Extension of Threshold's Housing Advice Service in Dublin

Press Releases

Threshold announces extended opening hours

The national housing organization, Threshold, dealt with over 8,000 clients in 2003. Our clients are tenants in private rented accommodation, homeless, local authority tenants, landlords, property agents, CICs, community groups, home purchasers, students etc. The issues we dealt with include notice to quit, eviction queries, rent increases, deposit retention, lease queries, repairs, poor standard accommodation, rent supplement, bin charges, landlord registration, fire safety, seeking private rented accommodation, making a local authority housing application, anti social behaviour claims, discrimination, shared ownership and affordable housing schemes etc. Demand for our service will increase in 2004 due to recent changes in the eligibility criteria for claiming rent supplement and we await the enactment of the Residential Tenancies Bill 2003 which will, among other things, introduce greater security to tenants in private rented sector. To meet this demand the Dublin Advice Office will now extend its opening hours every Thursday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm so that those experiencing housing problems that cannot get through to us in normal working hours do not go without proper information, advice and support with regard their housing problems.
